Housing Starts Continue to Improve Slightly

March Housing starts were released yesterday and we saw a modest increase for the 3rd month in a row which indicates the new construction market is finally on an upward trend. ? Starts increased 1.6% over February to a 626,000 annual pace which is about 20% higher than this time last year.

Mild Gains Resume in Housing Starts

New residential construction starts increased 2.8% in January to an annual rate of 591k. The better than expected increase last month follows an upwardly revised annual pace of 575k in December. Moreover, January starts were up a strong 21.1% from January one year ago.
